Realise Live and Cath Kidston

Updated: Nov 3, 2019

With the cold, grey and windy days upon us, we thought what better way to bring some colour onto your screen than with a bit of Cath Kidston. Our long-standing relationship with the brand has seen us work on numerous projects, from black cabs, to trains and literally kilometres of bunting. Here we look at some of our proudest Cath Kidston moments….

Our most recent brief was to design and build an installation for their Piccadilly flagship store to celebrate the launch of Cath Kidston’s new London-themed print. There is nothing more notoriously ‘London’ than the traditional black cab and so the team decided to slice the cab in half and turn it into a photobooth. Customers who visited the store could have their photo taken and leave with the Cath Kidston new London-themed print.

Our most challenging moment of the project – working out how to get the cab through the doors of the store. A nail-biting few minutes, and literally only mm’s between the cab and glass-fronted store and voila! we eventually manoeuvred the installations into place. The end result was fantastic with lots of happy customers leaving the store with their memorabilia in hand. We are now working on another cab for installation into Paddington Station so keep your eyes peeled!

Sticking with the theme of London transport, we move swiftly on from cabs to tube trains. Rather than using the real-thing this time, we designed and built a luxury tube carriage for use at the Spring/Summer International Buyers fair. It was so popular that we then transported it to their flagship Piccadilly store where it stayed for a few months for customers to enjoy.

Still in good condition, Cath Kidston then used the installation as a photo opportunity at the Autumn/Winter 2019 International Buyers fair with some changes made to the carriage inspired by their latest print release. TV screens were installed showing video of the beautiful English countryside to emulate a moving train.

Christmas is not only our favourite time of year, it also sees briefs flying in from Cath Kidston and the end of 2018 was no exception. We created a Christmas Grotto Pop Up shop in Paddington station, installed a full-size sled into their flagship store (taking inspiration from their new Christmas print), stacked, spray-painted and delivered 515 chairs to stores across the country in various shapes and size, and let’s not forget the hanging of 5km of red fairy lights for one store alone. A busy few weeks for our Kidston family!

Last, but by no means least, was the launch of Fearne Cotton’s collaboration with Cath Kidston. This was a PR event held in the Vinyl Factory in London. We designed and built installations including space helmets that, when worn, would play a press video, a swing GIF booth and a balloon wall with over 200 balloons. A really fun event for the brand, and us!
